Due to various socio-economic as well as political reasons, not much development as well as modernisation has taken place on the industrial front in the state.  Specific to valley, the case is even sad.  The lack of business optimisation avenues as well as short lived business practices led to no scope for improvisation and innovation.  With the result, the industries and trade is predominantly conventional in practice.  There is hardly any technology intervention and upgrade that has been incorporated in the traditional industries like handicrafts, handloom, horticulture, tourism, and others.  This is not only making the competition tough in national and global markets but also making production unviable.  With the consequence, many legacy business families of the valley are diversifying into other opportunities putting the traditional industried on the verge of extinction.
